Innovation,

Courage and

Vision

From rally triumphs and endurance victories to successes on the racetrack and in the desert, every major racing series Audi has participated in has been won. This wealth of experience now flows into the Audi Revolut F1® Team.

1980

The game

changer

From 1981 onwards, quattro changed everything. With its permanent all-wheel drive, Audi left the competition behind in rallying. In total, it won two manufacturers' and two drivers' titles. And all-wheel drive became the standard – as it remains to this day.

Injecting

Vorsprung

At the Audi site in Neuburg an der Donau, the F1® Audi Power Unit is taking shape. Since 2022, its development, testing, and optimization have been continuously driven forward on over 20 engine and component test benches there.

The race before

the race

On the engine test bench, the performance, efficiency, and integration of all components of the Audi F1® Power Unit are tested and optimized. As early as May 2024, the fully integrated power unit ran simulated race distances on the test bench.

With forensic

precision

Mass spectrometry is a chemical 'detective tool'. It analyzes liquids down to the molecular level. This method allows for the precise verification, for example, of the fuel composition according to the strict FIA regulations for the upcoming Formula 1® season.

Every micron

counts

On a coordinate measuring machine, a tactile measuring procedure is used to inspect the geometry of components like the crankshaft. The precision is in the micrometer range; this corresponds to dimensions many times smaller than the diameter of a human hair.

Zero tolerance –

and beyond

On the injector test bench, the fuel injectors are analyzed and calibrated to optimize the engine's combustion efficiency, performance, and reliability. For the high-performance hybrid power units of the 2026 F1® season, details of fuel combustion is crucial.

1990

Dominance

on the

circuit

quattro on asphalt? Of course. In 1988 and 1989, Audi dominated the American Trans-Am and IMSA GTO racing series. Then in 1990, with the V8 quattro, it won the DTM – debut season, overall victory. The following year, the title was defended. No other manufacturer had ever achieved this before.

2000

Endurance

victories

Audi achieved a total of 13 overall victories in the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. With the R18 e-tron quattro, Audi did pioneering work in 2012 pioneering work in the electrification of motorsport. Right from its debut, the first success of a hybrid sports car at Le Mans was celebrated.

2020

Successes in

the desert

In 2022, the Audi RS Q e-tron made its debut in the desert – a low-CO₂ prototype with electric drive, high-voltage battery and energy converter. With its overall victory in the 2024 Dakar Rally, Audi also made motorsport history here.
